Comments from John Miller:

"I installed the Safety Trim in my RV 10 a year and a half after the first flight.

My rationale for installing the Safety Trim was my concern for a possible runaway trim actuation on the elevator (with its large control authority) and the location of the circuit breaker to disable it in a hurry if needed (across the cockpit from the pilot's seat).

I installed the Safety Trim toggle switch where it is easily reachable from my seat should I need to use it.

Replacing the Ray Allen relays was simple once Bob gave me the simple, step by step instructions.

Jim S.    RV-8 Installation of Safety-Trim and IFC-1:

 TO: TCW Technologies:

I thought I’d drop you a note to let you know how much I’m enjoying flying with the TCW safety trim.  I had made up my mind that when I built my RV-7 that I wanted electric trim.  I’d never owned an airplane with it but had flown in a Lance that had it, and thought it was really nice.  Then I discovered how complicated wiring up both the pilot and passenger sticks could be if you wanted trim on the co-pilot’s stick.  (This was my first build).  I was about to decide I’d made a mistake and should have gone with the manual trim, when your new Safety Trim product was introduced.  So, I decided to give it a shot.  I mounted my black box under the tunnel right behind the firewall.  All of the wires reached and it was accessible in this location.  The directions were very straight forward and even a neophyte like myself found it easy to install.  I never touched the adjustment screws.  Towards the end of the build I was pretty overwhelmed with all of the tweaking and adjustments that you go through trying to get the airplane set up just right.  During my phase 1 testing I just knew I’d need to spend a lot of time setting the trim speeds.  Not so!  It was spot on right out of the box.  As a matter of fact for awhile I wondered what all the fuss with electric trim because you don’t even notice what it is doing behind the scenes.  It just flat out worked!  Thanks for a great product that works as advertised.  Some of the best products are the ones that do the job without you even knowing they are there.
